Aerial Photo 2

Aerial Photo 2

This is an aerial photo of Forest Lake and the surrounding area. It currently hangs in the Finns cottage. It was given to them by the previous owners and friends The Szalipski's. Here is some additional info from Julius about the history of the photo:

The 15" x 20" aerial photo on the wall was from Natural Resources Canada (Mines, Resources and something else before). Now http://airphotos.NRCan.gc.ca/ or if wrong just Google National Air Photo Library Canada. You can look at their archives and select photo/flight dates you want. One way to check progress at Lake.

I ordered it in around 1972, and it was from their most recent flights which were 1965 I think.. pre-1968 when we built our cottage. Photo didn't show our (Tom's) cottage and RED DOT shows where I think we were. Finn's on Micmac is there, as Tom's father Tony built earlier.

Did you notice the

Did you notice the differences?

From what I can see, "Kiddie Land", or as some of us know it, the Wrights old place, seems to have almost been a beach at the time in its own right...

Today's view shows that that "old beach" has become a lot more green, however, the other side of the street, possibly behind the Laundriaults, is a little less green than it once was. This is also noticeable on either side of the Micmac at it's intersection with Mohawk.

You may also notice the enlarged lake just north east of our lake. From a small round lake (not the first one, the second one), it's now turned into a rather elongated oval/rectangle.

And finally, near where the old CIP headquarters used to be, there's a lake there that wasn't all those many years ago. I think this is the building that burned down a short while ago, please correct me if I'm wrong...

A lot has changed over the years, that's for sure...
